THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The rural police have arrested two persons accused in cases registered in Kottarakara, Punalur, Pathanamthitta and Pangode police stations. One of them had escaped from police custody when taken to a Punalur court on May 20, 2007. K.M. Prasad, Sub-Inspector, Pangode, said the arrested were Faisuldeen, 37, and Vinod, 25, alias Hanuman, of Bharathannur in the district. He said investigations by the Pangode police into a theft in a provision store on August 19 and another in a house near Kallara led to the arrest. Mr. Prasad said that after Faisuldeen escaped from custody, he went into hiding and married a woman at Cheruvalom, near Kallara. He was an accused in a case of theft of gold and silver ornaments from a jewellery at Bharathannur on October 13, 2005. Vinod is an accused in several cases, including liquor-seizure cases, filed in Pangode and Palode stations. Mr. Prasad said the police had received clues on criminal gangs operating in the district. A team, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police, Attingal, P. Ashok Kumar, has started investigations.
