Contaminated water supplied in Palace Guttahalli

Staff Reporter

Bangalore: After residents of Bharatinagar, Murphy Town, Neelsandra and Shivajinagar received contaminated water supply in the last fortnight, residents of Ramaiah Layout in Palace Guttahalli complained of a similar problem on Saturday.

Sreesh Babu, a resident of the area, said people of his area received discoloured and stinking water with particles floating in it through their taps on Saturday. “I have been living in this area for the last six years and this is for the first time that I am facing such a problem,” he said.

“There was no problem in the past and we are used to drinking water even without filtering. But when I opened the tap to have a glass of water early in the morning, I was surprised to find discoloured water flowing through it,” he said.

When contacted a jurisdictional BWSSB official said he had not received any complaint from the residents in this regard. “We will attend to the problem immediately and find out the cause of contamination, if any, on Sunday,” he said.
