Car-borne gang robs man

VIRUDHUNAGAR: The manager of a fireworks unit was assaulted by a car-borne gang that robbed him of Rs.70,000 near here on Saturday evening.

The police said that the gang intercepted, M. Kalasamy when he was returning to his office at Nattarmangalam on his motorcycle after withdrawing the money from a bank for disbursing salary to workers.

The culprits attacked him with clubs near a temple at Moolipatti on the Sivakasi-Nattarmangalam road and took away the money kept in the side-box of the vehicle and fled the scene. The Amathur police have launched a hunt for the culprits. — Staff Reporter
