TFA beats BSF

NEW DELHI: Tata Football Academy (TFA) scored a splendid victory over the Border Security Force (BSF) in the pre-quarterfinal league of the 121st Osian’s Durand Cup football tournament at the Ambedkar Stadium, here on Saturday.

In another match, Salgaocar Club (Goa) defeated Oil and Natural Gas Commission 3-0.

The winning goal was scored in the fading moments from a deflection. The goal came when P. Deepak’s cross came to Subodh Kumar, whose shot went in from a defender’s deflection.

The second match of the day, played in rain, was equally absorbing. Salgaocar scored the first goal in the 32nd minute when he headed in a Beevan D’Mello cross.

Eight minutes later, Bijen Singh found the target from a cross by D’Mello and the tally was completed by Anil Kumar. — Special Correspondent
