Onam celebrations begin

Bangalore: Kerala Samaj’s Onam celebrations began here on Saturday with fervour, and it has lined up a host of competitions till September end.

Competitions

The competitions are being held at the Jubilee School in Vijanapura, behind the K.R. Puram railway station. A chess competition will be held on August 28.

There will be competitions in classical dance, folk dance and group dance on August 30.

News reading

On September 1, there will be news reading and essay writing competitions, followed by sports, quiz and Pookkam competitions in the evening.

Participants will be placed in various categories based on the standard in which they are studying.

Those studying below second standard will come under the sub-junior category.

Juniors are those from third standard to seventh standard and seniors are those studying in eighth standard or above.
