MYSORE: Congress leaders invited for a function to launch projects to improve the infrastructure of KSRTC under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) saw red over the BJP banners put up at the venue. Taking exception to the presence of the banners welcoming Transport Minister R. Ashok and Minister in-charge of Mysore district Shobha Karandlaje at the KSRTC depot in Bannimantap, Congress leaders led by the former Minister and Narasimharaja MLA Tanvir Sait threatened to walk out of the venue if the banners were not removed. Mr Ashok then intervened and ensured that the banners were removed. When Mr. Sait saw the banners, he asked KSRTC Managing Director Gaurav Gupta and Director (Security and Vigilance) M.A. Saleem how the State-owned corporation could allow banners of a political party to be put up at a government function. After the dignitaries ascended the dais, the Congress leaders including MLAs Tanvir Sait and Satyanarayana, besides Mayor Ayub Khan and Deputy Mayor Kamala J. Venkatesh threatened to boycott the function. However, Mr. Ashok asked the KSRTC officials to remove the banners.
