Gulbarga Mayor backs master plan

Staff Correspondent

GULBARGA: Mayor of Gulbarga Ravindranath Honalli on Sunday said the corporation would support all lawful development taken up in the city.

Addressing a press conference here along with corporator Bhimreddy Patil, Mr. Honalli said the corporation would not oppose the implementation of master plan for Gulbarga city.

Responding to charges levelled by former Minister S.K. Kanta that the city Corporators had opposed demolition of encroached portions in the city, the Mayor said: “Our support is there for the officials to conduct demolition of buildings.”

He asked the corporation officials to provide adequate information about portions to be removed and number of buildings to be pulled down under the demolition drive taken up for road widening.

If officials did the same, the corporators would supervise the work in their respective wards, he said.

Mr. Honalli said the corporators, at the general body meeting of the corporation, had asked officials to take elected representatives into confidence for demolition works taken up in the city.
