Yandigeri is Bijapur KSP president

Yandigeri defeated Mr. B.M. Ptail by 117 votes

Masimade won for the second time in Bidar

BIJAPUR: Janata Dal (Secular) leader Mallikarjun Yandigeri has been elected the president of the Bijapur district unit of the Kannada Sahitya Parishat on Sunday

He defeated his rival B.M Patil by 117 votes in the parishat elections held here on Sunday.

Mr. Yandigeri secured 496 votes and Mr. Patil, 379.

Of total 1635 votes, 1152 were polled.

B.N. Patil secured 160 votes; Bharati Gulipatil, 64; and S.S. Patil got 43 votes.

More than 40 per cent of votes were polled after 2 p.m.

Masimade in Bidar

Bidar Staff Correspondent reports:

Siddaramappa Masimade was elected the president of the Bidar district unit of Kannada Sahitya Parishat on Sunday.

Mr. Masimade defeated former president of the parishat Jagannath Hebbale by 801 votes in the elections held to the post of president on Sunday.

1,500 votes

Mr. Masimade secured 1,500 votes and Mr. Hebbale, 699. Mr. Masimade has been elected the president of Bidar unit of the parishat, for second time. The voting took place at Bhalki, Humnabad, Aurad, Basavkalayan and Kamalnagar taluks of the district.

A total of 2,427 votes were polled. Apart from Mr. Masimade and Mr. Hebbale, Omprakash Kotte, Shantakumar Patil and Tulasilal Cheluva contested for the post of the sahitya parishat president.
