Shidlapur is Haveri KSP chief

DHARWAD: Maruti Shidlapur was elected unopposed as president of Haveri district Kannada Sahitya Parishat on Sunday. D.M. Hiremath and A.B. Hiremath were elected presidents of Dharwad and Gadag district units of Kannada Sahitya Parishat, respectively, in the elections held on Sunday.

Of the total 1,034 voters in Dharwad district, 672 exercised their franchise. Mr. D.M. Hiremath polled 422 votes, while his rival Hanumakshi Gogi got 245 votes. Seven votes were declared invalid.

Three candidates were in the fray for election to the post of president of the Gadag district Kannada Sahitya Parishat.
