Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president Ramesh Chennithala has said that the Congress party expects all United Democratic Front constituents to observe coalition courtesies. Replying to a question of Janadhipathya Samrakshana Samithy leader K R Gouri’s criticism of the Congress party’s agitation demanding withdrawal of Class VII Social Sciences textbook, Mr. Chennithala said the UDF had taken a stand on the issue after discussion. Besides, the Congress did not need any advice on how to run its affairs, he added. Mrs. Gouri had said that the Congress party was busy trying to please the Christian church and was not interested in taking up issues that affected the people directly. Mr. Chennithala, who was cautious in his reaction, however made it clear that parties were free to express their opinions, but should observe certain courtesies. Ministers laudedThe KPCC executive complimented Union Defence Minister A.K. Antony and Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Vayalar Ravi for their efforts to get Central government sanction for several Kerala projects. A resolution adopted at meet here made a special mention of Mr. Antony’s efforts in getting clearance for the Vizhinjam project, besides taking the initiative for BarhMos tie-up and an HAL factory in Kasaragod. It complimented Mr. Ravi for supplementing Mr. Antony’s efforts in getting the Kuttanad package approved.
