Nine Civil Service toppers gain valuable insights

TIRUCHI: A group of nine toppers in the Civil Service examinations 2007 from the State gained some valuable insights into the nitty-gritty of civil administration during a three-day informal exposure visit to the district recently.

The visit coordinated by the District Employment Office and supported by the district administration gave the much needed field exposure to the toppers who are due to join training soon.

Top rank holders in the exam from Tamil Nadu were invited for the exposure trip, said the Assistant Director of the District Employment Office P.Suresh Kumar. Six of them have been selected for the Indian Administrative Service, while three would enter the Indian Police Service. The team had extensive interactions with the Collector T.Soundiah and also with visiting senior officers such as the State Election Commissioner D.Chandrasekaran. “This is probably the first time in the country that an exposure visit of this kind has been conducted for the would-be administrators,” Mr.Suresh Kumar told The Hindu.

The team also inspected various on going development works in the district and studied their implementation.

The interacted with members of the Tiruchi District Tiny and Small Scale Industries Association and also had an experience-sharing with candidates preparing for the competitive exams at the Self-Study Circle of the Tiruchi Employment Office.

The would-be administrators and police officers were highly appreciative of the effort and felt it would be highly helpful in their careers.
