We have reserved to and fro tickets in Falknuma express for a journey between Guntur to Berhampur on August 13 and 16. The tickets were purchased almost two months in advance. But, the railways cancelled the Falknuma express train owing to operational reasons. We could not get reserved tickets even under Tatkal or EQ in other trains going towards Howrah. The railway authorities should accommodate those passengers who has paid huge amount and reserved tickets well in advance, in some other trains. It is not justifiable on their part to simply wash their hands just by refunding the full amount at the fag end, and put the passengers to hardship. H. Kalyan Rao Guntur Perennial problemThe inundation of Ajithsingh Nagar, Ramarajya Nagar, Vidyadharapuram, HB Colony and many parts of Ramnagar is a regular feature during rainy season. The storm water drains are not properly planned in these areas. And, the authorities concerned had not supervised properly during the construction of the storm water drains in HB colony. The officials forgot to provide inlet into the drains. The agony of those staying in the ground floor of the colony is horrible. It is high time that the officials should take measures to ensure that rain water does not stagnate on the roads. C. Ram Mohun Vijayawada Roads in bad shapeThe Municipal Corporation officials have not taken any steps to restore the roads, which were dug up for laying underground drainage pipelines. The officials just filled the roads with rubbish and gravel at almost all the roads in Ajithsingh Nagar area. Further the recent rains worsened the situation with the roads becoming filled with storm water causing inconvenience to the public. Hence, the authorities were requested to restore the roads at the earliest. A. Pattabhi Vijayawada Roads or parking lots? The buses belonging to private educational institutions and lorries are being parked on roads and bylanes causing traffic and pollution problems in the city. In view of the ever-increasing vehicular population, it is easy to expect more and more encroachment of roads in near future. A bus or a lorry needs not more than 30 square yards for parking. Any individual owning these vehicles cannot be considered too poor to purchase a small land for parking. Hence, it should be made it mandatory for all the vehicle owners to show a place for parking their vehicles. Otherwise the licence should be cancelled. V.V. Ramanaiah Vijayawada Don’t give scope for controversiesFilm actor Chiranjeevi made his political debut recently and addressed a jam-packed press conference. Within no time, he puzzled the people by saying that BJP senior leader L. K. Advani had called him up on the occasion of launching the political party. The BJP leadership immediately condemned his statement, and asserted that the film actor himself telephoned Advani seeking his blessings. He should not give any scope for such controversies to win the confidence of the people. Ch. Joga Rao Guntur
