Chief Justice urged to reconsider stance

Staff Reporter

Thiruvananthapuram: Panniyan Ravindran, MP, has called upon Kerala High Court Chief Justice H.L. Dattu to reconsider his stand on the constitution of a Bench of the High Court in the capital. Mr. Ravindran said the Chief Justice should not view this as a regional issue as both the Cabinet and the Kerala Legislative Assembly had unanimously passed resolutions in favour of setting up a Bench in Thiruvananthapuram. In a press release issued here on Thursday, HC Bench agitation committee treasurer Advocate Renjith C. Nair said the MP also urged the Chief Justice of India to take a positive stand on the issue. Mr. Panniyan Ravindran also accused the Union Law Ministry for lobbying against the interests of the State, the press release stated. The stir seeing a Bench in the capital entered its 192nd day on Sunday.
