There is a possibility of PMK rejoining DPA: Chidambaram

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram on Sunday said there was a possibility of the PMK rejoining the Democratic Progressive Alliance (DPA) in Tamil Nadu.

Talking to reporters after meeting Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi at his Gopalapuram residence here, Mr. Chidambaram said because of the differences it might look like that the PMK had left the DPA.

“We cannot come to any conclusion about Tamil Nadu politics. The PMK is still part of the United Progressive Alliance government at the Centre. Tomorrow it may extend its support to the DMK-led DPA,” he said.

Asked about the criticism of the Communists that the Congress was a sinking ship, he said it was a childish remark because people had elected the Congress to power whenever the country faced a crisis.
