SBT to bring out Biometric Smart Card

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State Bank of Travancore will introduce Biometric Smart Card in Kerala as a pilot project in its endeavour towards financial inclusion through technologically viable products. The SBT will be the first bank in Kerala to take this step. The SBT SMART cardholders need not visit the bank for transactions.
MoU signed
The bank has selected the pilot project of Biometric Smart Card for distributing wages to NREGP beneficiaries in Pampadumpara panchayat in Nedumkandam block, Idukki, in association with the government of Kerala.
The bank and the State government have signed an MoU in this connection.
The product will be formally launched at a function at Nedumkandum on Tuesday.
