Now there’s a one-day workshop for children Bangalore: It could not get quicker than this — “a one-day workshop where you make one-minute films”. The FilmCamp.TV Academy, in partnership with Alliance Francaise, is organising film-making workshops and courses for children, college students and working adults from September 9, at the Alliance Francaise. Augmenting its already existing 1:1 Filmmaking Workshop, where participants make one-minute films in a day, Junior FilmCamp is exclusively for children between 9 and 16 years. Comprising 20 hours of instruction and shooting over a four-week period, the children will work in groups of five or less. Each group will write, shoot, direct and edit their films and the use of all equipment will be demonstrated to the children so that they can handle them on their own during the making of the film. The end of the workshop will be marked by a screening at the Alliance Francaise, where the participating children will be given a certificate and a DVD copy of all the films that were made, along with the film being uploaded on to www.filmcamp.tv Besides the Junior FilmCamp, the courses for college students and adults is divided into three levels — The Rookie, which is an eight-week course; The Contender, a 12-week course; and The Pro, a 16-week course. They will receive hands-on education while making the film and edit it using professional equipment. By rotating crew-roles, the workshop hopes to create a holistic film-maker of every participant. The Rookie course begins on September 15 between 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. At the end of the course, the participant will also receive a DVD demo-reel crediting their roles in the film. Graduating students will be eligible to apply for the Jim Taylor Filmmaking Grant, which provides equipment and consultation to make their next film based on a script they write.
