THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A four-day management training programme for the heads of special schools in the State will begin here on Tuesday. Education Minister M.A. Baby will inaugurate the programme, organised by the State Institute of Educational Management and Training. The workshop will have sessions led by experts on various aspects of special education and the problems confronted by those engaged in this sector. C.P. Narayanan, Planning Board member, will lead a seminar on “Curriculum and education.” A.P.M. Mohammed Haneesh, Director of Public Instruction, will deliver a lecture on “Management and leadership quality.” TopicsClasses will be held on topics such as planning, counselling, academics and auditing, academics and budgeting, children’s rights, citizens’ rights and effective use of information technology. James Varghese, Secretary, General Education, will lead an open forum from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday. Top-level officials of the Education Department will participate. Johny K. John, Director, State Institute of Educational Management and Training, said this was the first time that such a programme was being organised for the heads of special schools.
