PUDUCHERRY: The annual sports meet of Don Bosco Matriculation Higher Secondary School was held on August 14. march past, scores of events and prize distribution marked the occasion. The sports meet was inaugurated by Vice-Chairman of Puducherry Municipality A. John Kumar. Students presented several programmes and trophies and prizes were distributed. Cash awards were given to J. Jamal and B. Harish for securing the second and fifth positions in the Standard XII public examinations. S. Archana of Standard XI was given a cash award for bagging the silver medal in pole vault at a National level competition. Prizes for various events held in the school on August 18 were awarded by the Principal. Blessed Mother Teresa Model Higher Secondary School celebrated Independence Day. A ceremonial parade, guard of honour, flag hoisting and cultural programmes marked the occasion. School Manager, Father Paul Raj Kumar, Vice Chairman of Puducherry Municipality John Kumar and Parish Priest Father M.S. Xavier took part in the celebrations. The students of the school won the first, second and consolation prizes in the essay writing competition conducted by the Regional Resource Agency of Pondicherry as part of the birth anniversary celebrations of Rajiv Gandhi. While Vivek Kumar Jhun Jhunwala of Class XII won the first prize in the higher secondary level English essay writing competition, Ramya of Class X won the second prize in the high school level. Angel Jemima secured the consolation prize in higher secondary level Tamil competition. The prizes were distributed on August 20 at a function held at Gandhi Thidal on the occasion of Rajiv Gandhi Renewable Energy Day. Best child awardAt St. Joseph of Cluny Higher Secondary School, M. Poornima of Standard VII received the best child award “Anaiththu Kalai Valli” for her performance in various field of arts from Puduvai Nadaka Mantrangalin Kuttamayppu. A traffic awareness programme was organised by CAPT for students of Standard VIII, IX, X, XI and XII on August 6. Students of the school won the Chief Minister’s Rolling Trophy for the Best Contingent Award for Private girls on Independence Day. Yogasana competitionAround 17 students of Achariya Bala Siksha Mandir, Uppalam took part in the 17th Yoga Awareness seminar and yogasana competition conducted by Sri Pathanjali Yoga Centre on August 24. Seshaakumar of Standard IV won the championship, while Rakshi of Class II bagged the first prize and Tanushri of Class III won the third prize.
