Significant projectThis small, yet significant project has taken some three years to complete. It may be noted that the foundation stone was laid three years back by Minister of the State for Railways Naranbhai J.Rathwa in the presence of Union Minister of State Chandrasekhar Sahu. During his recent visit to the Berhampur railway station the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Khurda Road division of the East Coast Railways, R. Venkatswami reiterated that the foot-over bridge would be ready for the use of passengers in next three months. According to the engineers, it should have been completed in three months rather than taking three years. Memorandum
During the visit of the DRM, the citizens’ organizations like Ganjam Zilla Bikash Manch and Bahumukhi Samaj Mangal Sannskrutika Kendra handed over memorandums related to old demands of railway passengers of the city.
The demands included better amenities at Berhampur railway station, start of Berhampur-Phulbani railway link project, over bridges at Ambapua and Gopalpur level crossings and some more trains for the city.
