Woman found murdered

BANGALORE: A 41-year-old woman was murdered allegedly by her husband following a quarrel over the latter watching television during night in their house near Sampangiramanagar police station on Saturday.

According to the police, Rajeshwari (41) was not happy with her husband Ganesh Chittoor watching television in the night. There were heated exchanges between Rajeshwari and Ganesh Chittoor. He allegedly pushed her against the bathroom door and then strangled her with a wire.

In the morning, he called Rajeshwari’s relatives in Mumbai and informed them of Rajeshwar’s death. He told her relatives that Rajeshwari died following an injury she suffered after she fell in the bathroom. Rajeshwari’s relatives came to the city and suspected murder. They filed a complaint with the Sampangiramanagar police.

The police said Ganesh Chittoor (49) sold ice cream at a cinema for a living. He married Rajeshwari 11 years ago. A search is on for Chittoor who is reported to be at large.

Arrested

The Fraser Town police arrested seven persons allegedly involved in religious conversions. The police said residents found the accused distributing pamphlets asking people to convert to a particular religion. The residents brought the accused to the police. The police gave the names of the accused as Auto Raja (41), Suresh (29), Suresh (41), Kuppuswamy (45), Anand (35), Muttu (36) and Thomas Arul (43).

Held

The Central Crime Branch police arrested three persons allegedly involved in selling fake “Rado” watches in the city. The police raided three shops in Gandhinagar and recovered 130 watches valued at Rs. 15.6 lakh.

The police gave the names of the accused as Lalith (25) of Sultanpet, Roopesh Choudhury (33) of Rajasthan and Chand Pasha (43) of Tilak Nagar.
