VIZIANAGARAM: The new naval academy that is coming up in Kerala will be commissioned in January 2009, according to Vice-Admiral Nirmal Verma, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command, Visakhapatnam. He was speaking at the Local Board of Administration (LBA) meeting of Sainik School, Korukonda. As the present generation was aspiring for technical qualification, Indian Navy would provide them the opportunity to acquire the technical degree. He asked the youth to join the armed forces and serve the nation. Later, the Vice-Admiral, who is also the Chairman of the LBA, approved the budget for 2008-09. Captain (IN) P.K. Singh, Principal of the school, apprised the board members of the progress made by the school and the activities since the last LBA meeting in February 2008, according to a release. The other members of the LBA: P. Bhanu Murty, Director of School Education, Capt (IN) M.S. Raghunathan, Command Education Officer, ENC, Visakhapatnam, K. Venkata Rao, Deputy Secretary (Finance), Government of Andhra Pradesh, N. Venkata Rao, Department of Education, Andhra University and S. Dilli Rao, RDO (on behalf of Collector B. Kishore) attended the meeting.
