Bidar students geared for better SSLC results

BIDAR: Commissioner for Public Instruction, Bangalore, G. Kumar Nayak on Monday expressed confidence that students of Bidar district would perform well in the coming SSLC examinations as steps had been taken towards improving the results.

At a press conference here, Mr. Nayak said many steps had been taken to work towards better SSLC results such as framing an action plan to improve the quality of education.

Bidar students occupied the last place in SSLC examination results, he said

“Every school should have an education plan, and the action plan would be implemented after taking members of the School Development Monitoring Committee and parents into confidence,” he said. Earlier, special classes were being conducted only for students appearing for the SSLC, but they had been extended to the eighth and ninth standard students as well, he added.

Training

Teachers were being given regular training to improve their teaching skills, Mr. Nayak said.

“Nali Kali” scheme for students would be extended to all schools of the State in the next academic year, he said.

In Bidar district, it had been implemented in 30 Kannada-medium schools and 12 Marathi-medium schools, he added.After the implementation of the “Nali Kali” scheme, the learning level had gone up in the State.

Under the scheme, teachers have been trained to improve teaching methods. The training classes are conducted for eight days in a year. Under the scheme, songs, dances, and group discussions are conducted, and teachers get a chance to mingle with students.

As part of his visit to the district, Mr. Nayak reviewed works undertaken by the department in various schools at Yanagunda, Koutha (B) and Bansi tanda of Aurad taluk. He also visited the office of the Deputy Director of Public Instruction.
