Sirsi: Students of the Forestry College here boycotted classes on Monday demanding that the State Government modify the rules for recruitment of technical staff in the Forest Department. AgitationThey would continue their agitation till their demands were met, college students’ union leader Harsha K.G. said. However, the office of the college functioned as usual. Forestry science graduates with specialisation in forest management, conservation and development, and special training of six months should be considered (100 per cent reservation) for the posts of range forest officer (RFO) and assistant conservator of forests (ACF), the union leader said. ChargeThe students alleged that the State Government had ignored guidelines under the Indian Forest Policy for recruitment. Eligible graduates were deprived of employment, they said. Union leaders Vijaya Kalappananvar, Shivaputra N.B, Chandrakanth H.H. and Sriharsha participated in the agitation.
