Kalpetta: A child was killed and its mother was admitted to the District Hospital in Mananthavadi with injuries when she jumped into a river with her baby from a bridge at Koyilery on Monday morning. Shameena, 25, of Aryangal at Anjannikkunnu near Panamaram, with her 18-month-old son Afsal, jumped into the Mananthavadi river. While the child died on the spot, the woman was rescued by the villagers. Mananthavadi police said that Shameena had undergone treatment for mental problems.
