TDP plans to move no-confidence motion against Speaker

ONGOLE/HYDERABAD : The privileges committee of the Assembly that inquired into a complaint against Telugu Desam MLA from Addanki Karanam Balaramakrishna Murthi for allegedly making disparaging remarks against Speaker K.R. Suresh Reddy will submit its report to the House on Tuesday.

The committee which has taken serious note of the comments is likely to recommend suspension of the member for six months from the House, according to reliable information available here on Monday.

The submission of the report and the likely suspension of the legislator could lead to a showdown between the Congress and TDP members. Anticipating action against a party MLA, the Telugu Desam Legislature Party which met here on Monday evening, reportedly decided to move a no-confidence motion against the Speaker.

It may be recalled that Mr. Balaram had displayed a video of the proceedings and had made the remarks against the Speaker during a campaign launched by the party. It was aimed at informing people that the Leader of the Opposition N. Chandrababu Naidu had not made any derogatory remarks against the Deputy Speaker G. Kuthuhalamma during a debate in the Assembly. The Congress legislators took objection to the comments and the issue was referred to the privileges committee.
