BONHOMIE: Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy with legislators of various parties at the Jubilee Hall in Hyderabad on Monday. HYDERABAD: The monsoon session of the Legislative Assembly that commenced on Monday will go on till September 6 even as the Opposition protested the government’s refusal to extend the session by a couple of days. The Business Advisory Committee of the Assembly finalised the agenda for the 10-day session that will start with a short discussion on farmers’ issues including the shortage of fertilizer and seeds on Tuesday. This will be followed by debate on health issues with focus on Rajiv Arogyasri health insurance scheme. Evening sessionsThere will be evening sessions on three days, August 28, September 1 and 4, when the government business including replacement of 10 ordinances and two new bills would be taken up. The more-than-one-hour BAC meeting went off without any disruption as members of the Opposition and the ruling party focused attention on discussing about the issues that should be taken up in the session. But the Opposition remained dissatisfied as their demand for extending the session till September 10 and for a discussion on price rise and land issues was turned down by the government. The latter believed to have been assured that their request would be considered during the winter session in December. Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy is understood to have dismissed Opposition leaders’ apprehensions about the Congress advancing the elections to Assembly saying the polls would be held in April as per schedule. The TDP, CPI, CPI (M), TRS and the BJP, however, were critical of the government attitude saying the issues they wanted to raise were rejected. Breakfast hosted Earlier in the day, Speaker K. R. Suresh Reddy hosted the traditional breakfast for floor leaders at the Jubilee Hall. The Chief Minister, Legislative Affairs Minister K. Rosaiah and N. Narasimhaiah (CPI-M), Chada Venkata Redy (CPI), Eatala Rajender (TRS), Akbaruddin Owaisi (MIM) and G. Kishan Reddy (BJP) attended. Leader of Opposition N. Chandrababu Naidu deputed Kala Venkata Rao (TDP) with a message that he could not attend because of the rally taken out by his party.
