NEW DELHI: Most of the construction works of the Delhi Government are moving at a slow pace due to which about three dozen projects including a dozen flyovers are running behind schedule, Delhi Pradesh BJP president Harsh Vardhan charged on Monday. In a statement, the BJP leader said not completing any project on time means waste of public money. Also, places where flyovers were to be constructed have become centres of traffic jams because of which fuel, time and money is wasted and the project cost also shoots up due to the delay, he added. Dr. Vardhan said more than 18 months had passed since the underpass at the railway line in Jhilmil Colony was started, but only 13 per cent of the work is complete. Construction of the Naraina flyover at the cost of Rs.119 crore was to be completed by December this year, but not even one fourth of the work has been completed, he added. Similarly, construction of the Barapula elevated road for the Commonwealth Games has not started yet. Work on the Ring Road bypass project to be constructed at a cost of Rs.653 crore has also not begun.
