BANGALORE: After accepting the resignation of Minister for Horticulture S.K. Bellubbi, Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa on Monday announced that no more ministers would be dropped. Mr. Bellubbi submitted his resignation to Mr. Yeddyurappa to make room for Umesh V. Katti, who quit the Janata Dal (Secular) and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party, in the Cabinet. Mr. Yeddyurappa told presspersons here that Mr. Katti would be sworn in as a Cabinet Minister on Wednesday evening at the Raj Bhavan. To a question, Mr. Yeddyurappa said that he had no plan to drop any more ministers from the Cabinet. There were rumours that that Yeddyurappa-loyalists such as H. Halappa, S.N. Krishnaiah Setty and S. Suresh Kumar may be asked to resign to accommodate defectors from other parties in the Cabinet. Asked about the admission three prominent Congress MLAs and former Ministers, Gurupadappa Nagamarapalli, V. Somanna and Baburao Chinchansur, into the BJP, he said, “We are not poaching anybody.” Some MLAs planned to join the BJP on their own, he said. A three-day national executive committee meeting would be held in Bangalore from September 12, and all national leaders would attend it. Ministers and leaders had been instructed not to collect funds to organise the meeting, the Chief Minister said.
