Loadshedding was introduced in the State on July 14 It was temporarily lifted on August 13 BANGALORE: With a dry spell setting in, loadshedding is being reintroduced in the State from Tuesday as the power consumption has increased, say sources in Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (Bescom). Loadshedding had been introduced in the State on July 14. However, it had been lifted temporarily on August 13, as the daily power consumption of the State had then decreased to 92 million units following good rains. Now, the daily consumption had crossed 100 million units. Power consumption touched 101 mu on Sunday, when it is normally less as the industries are closed. ScheduleThere will be a two-hour loadshedding every day in Bangalore. There would be loadshedding for one hour for domestic consumers anytime between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. and for another hour between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. Industrial and commercial units would face loadshedding of two hours’ duration anytime between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Villages in the Bescom jurisdiction will suffer the most as they will have to go without power for 13 hours a day. Towns in Bangalore Rural and Ramanagara district will face four hours of loadshedding, while those in Kolar, Tumkur, Davangere, Chitradurga and Chickballapur districts will have loadshedding of six hours. Meanwhile, the Bescom Managing Director has convened a meeting with Extra High Tension (EHT) consumers on Tuesday to discuss the power supply scenario and the loadshedding for them.
