The Indian Council for Child Welfare, at its annual general meeting in New Delhi on August 24, adopted a resolution urging the Government of India to apply uniform children’s legislation to all States and territories of India for the provision of custody, protection, care, treatment, maintenance welfare, training and rehabilitation of children including juvenile delinquents. The council reiterated its demand for the inclusion of a comprehensive child welfare programme and expressed concern at the lowering of standards of health among school going children.
