East Bengal stays in the hunt

KOLKATA: Kingfisher East Bengal bounced back to winning ways beating Mohammedan Sporting 2-0 in a premier division encounter of the Calcutta Football League here at the Salt Lake Stadium on Monday.

With the national players rejoining the side, East Bengal put up a strong show and ensured full three points to stay in the hunt for the title.

East Bengal, which had lost 1-3 to Sporting in the first phase, clawed back to the third position tallying 18 points from 10 matches. Mohammedan Sporting, which shares the top spot on points with Mohun Bagan, remained on 20 points. — Principal Correspondent
