Coimbatore: Top colleges and universities from Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu will vie for honours in the 16th Karunya-Evangeline Memorial Tournament (KEMT) at the Karunya University campus here from September 24 to 27. The tournament, initially held for colleges within Tamil Nadu, was upgraded to the South India level after Karunya was accorded with the University status. Held in memory of Evangeline, daughter of late Dr. D.G.S. Dhinkaran, founder of the University, the four-day tournament features basketball, kabaddi and volleyball (for both men and women) and football for men. Besides rolling trophies, the top two finishers in all disciplines will receive cash prizes of Rs. 10,000 and 7,000 respectively. Entries must reach the Tournament Secretary, Dr. A. Kaleb Rajan, Director of Physical Education, Karunya University, Karunya Nagar, Coimbatore-641 114 (ph: 2614670-71, 98947 46538; e-mail: kalebrajan@karunya.edu) on or before September 5. — Sports Reporter
