Chennai: The Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Petitions Committee will meet in Chennai shortly. According to a release, individuals, associations or institutions in Chennai district may send petitions relating to redressal of public grievances in Tamil (five copies) addressed to the Chairman, Committee on Petitions, Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, Chennai - 600009 before September 4. The petitions may relate to grievances not redressed for years by government departments. A petition should contain only one grievance and should relate to only one department. Also, the petitions must concern maters of public importance. According to the release, petitions should not be on any of the following subjects: individual or private grievances, matters pending before any court of law, appeals for employment or pattas, old age pension, bank or employment loans and transfer requests from government employees. The committee will examine the petitions and discuss the appeals with government officials at the meeting. All petitions should include date and petitioners’ names, signatures and addresses. The Chennai District Collector’s office will notify the petitioners about the decisions taken at the meeting.
