Kozhikode: In a charitable initiative worth emulating, the NRI Forum of Vadakara (UAE and Abu dhabi) will sponsor the marriages of 100 economically-backward women from Vadakara . The NRI Forum of Vadakara is a collective of non-residents from Vadakara with former MP P. Sathee Devi as chief patron. The initiative is part of the forum’s efforts to spread awareness against wasteful spending for marriage, says forum general secretary Sameer Cheruvannur. The application forms for registering for the group wedding to be held in December are available from the organising committee office at Adakkatheruvu, Vadakara. The forms are also available from Pookkadu Kalalayam, Brothers Vallikkadu, Daya Pain and Palliative Clinics, Herald Cheruvannur and C.S. Associates Perambra. The organisers are also planning a gathering for the prospective brides and grooms to find a suitable match. Last date for submitting the application forms to the forum authorities is September 30. Details can be had from the forum office (phone: 0496 3217313). Those willing to cooperate with this venture may contact on 9946127509, 9947878639.
