3 held with heroin
CHENNAI: The Narcotics Intelligence Bureau CID police seized 500 grams of heroin worth about Rs. 50 lakh in the international market from a three-member gang at Tuticorin on Monday.
According to a release issued by Inspector General of Police and Head of Anti-Narcotic Task Force, I. Raja, a special team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police, K. Venugopal, intercepted a motorcycle on the Beach Road. Three persons travelling in the two-wheeler K. Marimuthu (32), R. John Paul alias Balan (28) and R. Jesu Antony Vinoth alias Vinoth (28) of Tuticorin were interrogated. Marimuthu was found to be in possession of a packet containing the heroin.
The accused told police that R. Aldrin of Thangachi Madam had given them the contraband. The trio was produced in a special court and remanded in judicial custody.
In another case at Ramanathapuram, the police arrested three persons and seized 500 grams of heroin from them. — Special Correspondent
