Gold, silver coins seized

CHENNAI: Gold and silver coins worth about Rs.6 lakh were seized from the lockers of A. Pushpam Appalanaidu, who was arrested in connection with the ‘Gold Quest’ case.

According to a Crime Branch CID release, Pushpam was taken into police custody for five days beginning August 22. Two bank lockers were opened on her identification and gold coins weighing 598 grams and 333 silver coins were seized. The accused, who has been detained under the Goondas Act, was produced in a Metropolitan Magistrate Court and remanded in judicial custody on Tuesday, the release added.
