Ahamed condemns Orissa violence

KOCHI: Union Minister of State for External Affairs E. Ahamed has condemned the alleged attacks on minorities in Orissa.

Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, he said the Orissa government should take steps to protect the minorities. He called for concerted efforts to foster communal harmony in the State.

Earlier, the Minister laid the foundation for a new academic block of the KMEA Engineering College at Edathala near here. In his inaugural address, the Minister said the Indo-U.S. nuclear deal would help the country in meeting its energy needs. He asserted that the nation would never surrender its sovereign powers to other countries.
