Multi-tier administration setup for HMDA

HYDERABAD: The newly formed Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority has come up with a multi-tier administration with five zonal offices and 10 service centres to ensure a better reach over its wide jurisdiction.

Apart from a Metropolitan Commissioner, the organisational setup of the body will have four members to head planning, engineering, environment and finance.

They in turn are to be assisted by officials including Chief Planning Officer and Chief Engineers at the Central and Zonal office while the Environment unit will have the Director for Urban Forestry, Lakes and Buddha Purnima Project Authority.

The list of Head of Departments among other comprises Rahul Bojja (Outer Ring Road), K.S. Reddy (Urban Forestry), A.V.Bhide (Planning) and Vivek Deshmukh (Engineering).

Unprecedented growth

The unprecedented growth of Hyderabad in ever-widening circles and a booming construction activity has the new authority seen as an initiative to bring under single umbrella the extensive development activity and real estate projects happening outside the jurisdiction of erstwhile Hyderabad Urban Development Authority.

The HMDA plans to offer convenient accessibility with a series of zonal offices covering different zones, an official said. As of now, four zonal offices have been identified and they are to be located at Kokapet, Kompally, Ghatkesar and Shamshabad while the fifth one is to be announced soon.

Customer service centres

Each of these offices is to house the departments of planning, engineering, environment, accounts and estate, apart from administration and coordination department.

At another level, the authority also proposes customer service centres and for the purpose ten locations have been identified.

With a junior planning officer and an assistant engineer, these centres will be at Chevella, Sangareddy, Narsapur, Shamirpet, Keesara, Bhuvanagiri, Ibrahimpatnam, Pochampally, Maheshwaram and Kothur.

The expanded HMDA jurisdiction has the entire of Hyderabad (16 Mandals) and also 38 Mandals of the adjoining Districts.

From these, Rangareddy Districts has a maximum of 22 Mandals followed by 10 of Medak, four of Nalgonda and two of Mahbubnagar.
