Nitish not serious about relief: Raghuvansh Prasad

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: Union Rural Development Minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh on Tuesday accused the Bihar government of inaction in tackling the flood situation in the State.

Mr. Singh said at a press conference here that the Nitish Kumar government was not “serious” about providing relief to the affected people. “Despite 20 districts being badly affected by floods, the State government has failed to take adequate steps to provide relief to the people. It has made no estimate of loss of human lives. Mr. Kumar has not sought any help from the Centre despite the worsening of the flood situation.”

Mr. Singh said RJD leader Lalu Prasad was meeting Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to seek help in providing relief to the flood-affected people as Mr. Kumar did not seem to be “serious about the situation.” The State government did not have any contingency plan, he alleged.
