Bhavan’s College posts win

HYDERABAD: Bhavan’s College (Sainikpuri) defeated Malla Reddy Engineering College 52-46 in the preliminary round of the Talasani Sandeep Yadav prize money basketball tournament at Nehrunagar Playground here.

The results: Bhavan’s Sainikpuri 52 (Rajnish 35, Krishna 10) bt Malla Reddy Engg College 46 (David 23).

SAI, Kurnool, 74 (Srinivas 20, Farooq 17) bt YMCA Hyderabad 45 (Mark 14, Jac 15).

Easy for CoE (SAAP)

In the A-Division league volleyball championship for Nalla Malla Reddy Engineering College Trophy, Centre of Excellence (SAAP) defeated Hyderabad Mayors 25-13, 25-18, 25-15 at Amberpet Indoor Stadium. In other matches, Army Green got the better of SBI 25-15, 25-16, 25-16 and Income Tax downed EME Centre 24-26, 25-19, 25-20, 25-19.

Thumping win for West Godavari

West Godavari defeated Krishna by 138 runs in the ACA Central Zone women’s senior inter-district tournament in Vijayawada on Tuesday.

The scores: West Godavari 210 for seven in 50 overs (N.S.T.R. Lakshmi 63, S. Rama Devi 46, G. Dhana Lakshmi three for 27) bt Krishna 72 in 29.1 overs (V. Swathi four 20).

New turf wickets

The re-laid practice turf wickets at D.V. Krishna Rao Memorial Cricket Academy at Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation will be inaugurated by Vijayawada Municipal Corporation commissioner P. Pradymna on Wednesday. “The players can make use of the facility from September 1,” said a release from the Krishna District Cricket Association.

Krishna Babu shines

K. Krishna Babu’s 116 was the highlight of the two-day ACA Central Zone u-16 inter-district cricket tournament for Valluri Kesava Rao Trophy at Guntur on Tuesday. Guntur, in reply to Krishna’s 233 for six in 90 overs, was 13 for no loss in five overs.

The scores: Krishna 233 for six in 90 overs (K. Krishna Babu 116, A. Tirumala Rao 60, P. S. Ravi Teja three for 83) vs. Guntur 13 for no loss five overs.

Loyola scores win

Loyola Public School defeated Vignan by eight wickets in the Guntur District Cricket Association’s inter-school tournament at Guntur on Tuesday.

The scores: Vignan 101 in 31 overs lost to Loyola Public School 102 for two in 30 overs.
