Artisans urged to come out with innovative ideas

MAHABUBNAGAR: “Art is a gift which we must try to develop,” Collector V. Usharani said in her inaugural address at a workshop on handicrafts of Mahabubnagar district on Wednesday.
She called upon artisans to prepare their products with innovative ideas keeping in mind the taste of the present generation while making their products.
There were many artisans in Kothakota, Gadwal, Narayanpet and dhivitipally towns in the district who were producing handloom textiles and bronze items.
Encouragement
She said that the Department of Handicrafts had identified some thousands of artisans in the district and the government was providing loans and scholarships to their children.
The Collector also assured them of the necessary encouragement from the district administration.
Over 120 artisans from the district practising different crafts participated in the workshop organised by the Development Commissioner, Handicrafts They displayed their products and took part in the exhibition and interactive session.
Assistant Director, Handicrafts, S.A.Razaq, welcomed the dignitaries presented various schemes for the benefit of artisans.
