Suspension of Karanam a vindictive act, says Yerran

Staff Reporter

Srikakulam: Telugu Desam Parliamentary Party leader K. Yerran Naidu on Wednesday described the suspension of MLA Karnam Balaram Krishna for six months from the Assembly as a vindictive act.

Addressing a press conference at the party office here, Mr. Yerran Naidu said suspension of a member for six months from Assembly was unprecedented and unreasonable. He demanded the government revoke the suspension forthwith and move a motion in this regard in the Assembly session.

He said the Congress government had misused its brute majority in the Assembly by moving a motion with a voice vote. He opined that the government should have consulted leaders of other parties before taking to the extreme step.

He said Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy will meet the same fate as that of Pakistan President Perevez Musharaf in the coming Assembly elections.

Mr. Naidu said rewarding of Mr. Adikeshavulu Naidu as TTD Chairman by the Congress government reflected the Congress culture of rewarding betrayers after winning them through dubious means.

Reacting on the Chiranjeevi show at Tirupati, Mr . Naidu said he was personally disappointed by the speech of Mr. Chiranjeevi as there was nothing new in it.

He said he had expected more from a man, who maintained a lot of suspense for nearly a year on his policies and programmes and did a lot of home work on the shape he is going to give to the new party.

On the contrary his speech lacked the expected punch and did not appear to have come from his heart as he just read out a speech prepared by some one.

Drawing a parallel between NTR and Chiranjeevi, he stated that when NTR entered politics, his speeches right from the day one of launching the party to the end reflected his heart.

Mr. G. Appala Suryanarayana, ex-minister, Mr. Suryanarayana, former Zilla Parishad chief, and others were present.
