ANANTAPUR: A large number of farmers gathered from several villages on Parigi and Hindupur rural mandal staged a protest in front of a farmers’ service centre, a fertilizer dealer, demanding urea fertilizer for using it in their maize and groundnut cultivation. The area has received good rain for the last two days and the farmers queued to the fertiliser dealer for urea. But, the dealer has been sending the farmers back due to no stock of the fertiliser in demand. The angry farmers forced the fertiliser dealer to close down the shop and staged a rasta roko in front of it. The farmers retreated after Assistant Director of agriculture Ganesh went to the farmers and assured them of arranging at least one lorry load of fertilizer on Thursday.
