Report to tackle traffic woes soon
HYDERABAD: A team of officials which visited the United States to undertake a study on traffic issues is preparing an integrated report to solve the traffic problem in the State capital by taking into consideration the measures taken in different cities in India and abroad, Home Minister K. Jana Reddy informed the Assembly on Tuesday.
Replying to Akbaruddin Owaisi (MIM) and others, he said the traffic problem is deteriorating day-by-day in the twin cities with the total number of vehicles which were ply reaching a staggering 30 lakh.
He said action would be taken after receipt of the report.
Following a directive from Speaker K.R. Suresh Reddy, he said that a meeting of legislators from city and other legislators interested to participate would be held as soon as possible.
Expressing concern over the traffic snarls, Mr. Owaisi said Rs.367 crore is being wasted in Hyderabad and Secunderabad due to traffic jams.
He wanted to know about the outcome of the meeting held with city MLAs two years ago.
