Big win for Dr. Mahalingam

Coimbatore: Dr. Mahalingam College of Engineering and Technology, with contributions from Sridhar (60) and Sathish (70), notched up a nine-wicket win over Kumaraguru College of Technology and entered the semifinal of the Anna University Zone-7 inter-collegiate cricket tournament at the PSG Tech grounds here on Wednesday.

The scores (quarterfinals): Hindustan 96 lost to VLB EC 97 for four in 16.1 overs; Bannari Amman (Sathy) 187 for five in 25 overs (Gowtham 50, Prakash Shankar 63) bt Sri Krishna 111 for nine in 25 overs; Dr. Mahalingam 180 for one in 25 overs (Sridhar 60, Sathish 70) bt KCT 97 in 17 overs.

Sub-junior trials

Trials to select the sub-junior football team for the forthcoming State championship at Karaikudi, organised by the Coimbatore District Football Association, will be held at the Nehru Stadium on August 28 at 4 p.m. Players born on or after January 1, 1994 are eligible.
