Consumer club inaugurated at school

Chennai: The Tamil Nadu Consumer Protection Organisation proposes to start consumer clubs in schools and apartment complexes in the city.

Chennai Commissioner of Police R. Sekar recently inaugurated a consumer club at Seventh Day Adventist Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Vepery.

Mr. Sekar encouraged students to follow traffic rules as it would improve safety on roads.

C. Paul Barnabas, Chennai district president of Tamil Nadu Consumer Protection Organisation, said the consumer clubs would promote awareness of consumer rights among students and the public.

District vice-president N.S. Parameswaran said, “Student members of the clubs would also be taught to consume healthy food instead of sugar or masala coated junk food.”
