Collector reviews voter registration
Staff Reporter
VISAKHAPATNAM: District Collector Sanjay Kumar directed the officials to complete the voter registration work by August 30.
At a review meeting with district officials, Special Deputy Collectors and Tahsildars on Tuesday, he said that the names of eligible voters, which were not registered in the draft notification published on January 1 this year, should be incorporated and the names that had to be deleted have to be removed and the fresh list published in accordance with Rule 21. He directed the officials to complete the process in a week.
Any objections or requests for inclusion of names should be completed by September 30. He asked the officials to ensure that the name and photo of the voter on the identity card were matching. While no ineligible person should be enrolled as a voter under any circumstance the officials should also take the responsibility of enrolling all eligible voters. He also reviewed the mandal-wise registration of voters. Reviewing the issue of white ration cards and Arogyasri cards, Mr. Sanjay Kumar directed the officials to ensure that the cards were issued to all eligible persons in a week.
Joint Collector M. Veerabrahmaiah directed the Civil Supply Officials to ensure proper distribution of commodities through ration shops failing which stringent action would be initiated against them.
DRO K. Madan Mohan Rao was also present.
