Training to set up agri clinics

COIMBATORE: The Agri-Clinics and Agri-Businesses Training Centre of the Voluntary Association for People Service (VAPS), Madurai, will organise a 60-day free residential training programme for those interested in setting up agri-clinics and agri-businesses in rural areas. The training will be held in Madurai and Salem.
According to a release from the association’s nodal officer S.A. Arul, the programme will be conducted for unemployed farm and allied subjects’ graduates to enable them set up their clinics and businesses in rural areas.
Financial assistance to conduct the programme for such candidates of the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) and Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS) is being offered by the Union Ministry of Agriculture and NABARD. The programme is expected to take extension methods to all farmers in addition to providing self employment.
The programme will begin from the second week of September in Salem and from the second week of October in Madurai. It will include agri-business aspects, market survey and bankable project preparations.
Trained graduates can avail of loans of Rs. 5 lakh to Rs. 10 lakh from nationalised and co-operative rural banks. Bankable and audited projects will be prepared by VAPS free of cost. It has so far completed training 15 batches in Madurai and two in Salem.
All unemployed graduates of TNAU and TANUVAS from Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Andaman and Nicobar Islands are eligible to attend.
