Traffic turmoil hits commuters

TRS to draw attention of higher officials towards problem

Tough ride: The debris from the demolished circle at the Dwarakanagar crossroads in Adilabad causes traffic flow problem.

ADILABAD: The Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) will soon request the vehicle drivers of Adilabad District Collector Ahmad Nadeem and Superintendent of Police Anil Kumar to contrive journey of the officials through the main areas within Adilabad town. The request will be handed over to the drivers in written form soon by TRS leaders with a view to draw the attention of the higher officials towards problems related to traffic flow.

“Neither the Collector nor the SP need to come down town. They need not enter the problem areas even while going to respective office. Even if they are aware of the problem they are not likely to understand the gravity of the situation unless they have first hand experience,” says G. Karunakar Reddy, TRS leader.

“Because the officials do not seem to be inclined to pay enough attention to the hardships faced by ordinary people in town, we want to put in a request to the drivers to somehow route their vehicles through heavily crowded areas,” he adds.

The problem related to traffic congestions has been highlighted many a time in the past. However, the authorities have not responded at all.

The Municipal authorities are so lax in discharge of their duties is evident from an incident involving the demolition of an under construction roundabout.

Relatives of the late Municipal chairman Lala Radheshyam constructed a roundabout at the narrow Dwarakanagar Junction about a month back with the intention of installing his statue.

However, the structure was demolished by unknown persons before the statue could be installed.

The Municipal authorities have failed in lifting of the debris that includes protruding iron rods. The debris is causing problems in flow of traffic and also poses danger to the lives of road users.

“We want the drivers to take the Collector and SP to this spot. We are going to hand over the request letter as soon Mr. Nadeem returns from his tour in other parts of the district.”
