Bifurcate higher secondary schools

Staff Reporter

PUDUKOTTAI: The District unit of the Tamil Nadu High and Higher Secondary School Graduate Teachers’ Association has urged the State government to bifurcate the higher secondary schools for ensuring an efficient administration of institutions and also for achieving better academic performance.

In a statement issued here on Thursday, the District president of the Association D. Ramamoorthy said that independent units, one for standards from VI to X and another for the Plus one and Plus Two courses, should be set up with a Headmaster for each unit.

Other demands

He also demanded regularisation of services of graduate teachers with retrospective effect from the date of their appointment on temporary basis.

Presently, the regularisation had been given effect with a time scale of pay with effect from June, 2006 only.

On the teachers appointed on contract basis since 1987, Mr. Ramamoorthy said that their services should be regularised with effect from the date of their appointment. Benefits such as promotion, Selection Grade and Special Grade status should be extended to them.

He said that the members of the Association would take out a procession in Chennai in support of the above mentioned demands on Saturday.
